1909 E92 Dockman & Sons
Cy Young
SGC NM+ 86

This issue featuring Hall-of-Fame pitching great Cy Young is one of the most valuable and highly sought-after cards within the classic E92 family of sets. Published in 1909, this series includes cards featuring four different sponsor ad-backs. The offered example is one of 40 cards in the series featuring a John H. Dockman & Sons (a Baltimore, Maryland confectionary company) ad-back.

Cy Young enjoyed a spectacular 22-year career (1890-1911). He recorded 30 or more victories in five seasons, and 20 or more victories in ten seasons. He threw three no-hitters, and one perfect game. He registered two wins in the Boston Americans' victorious 1903 World Series contest against the Pittsburgh Pirates. And he holds the all-time career records for most wins (511), most innings pitched (7,356), and most complete games pitched (749).

This example is a spectacular gem with amazing visual appeal. It is superbly centered and features bright ivory-white borders, outstanding quality corners, a pristine undisturbed surface, boldly impressed printing, and brilliant orange-red background coloration. The card-back is extraordinarily clean with sharp, legible black lettering set against attractive creamy-white stock. Unquestionably, this is one the finest E92 Dockman Cy Young cards extant.
